Rave – We-Vibe
We-Vibe is one of Taboo’s favorite manufacturers. Their unique couples’ toys are among our most popular, and their solo toys are fantastic too. The We-Vibe Tango is one of my go-to clitoral stimulators. So I couldn’t wait to try their latest offerings, the Rave and the Nova. When mine finally arrived, I was so excited, I did this:
The We-Vibe Rave is “sensually sculpted for the ultimate G-spot experience.” It is not, as its name suggests, a flashing, jumping, druggy toy, but is instead a pretty, purple work of art. It’s the sort of thing you might store in a golden drawer next to an equally purple bra and panty set and a few of your finest fake pearls.
Since it’s a We-Vibe product, you might be tempted to take certain things for granted. Its silicone exterior, for example, or its super-quiet, powerful motor. You might overlook these things while marveling at its strange-ish shape, or while counting its patterns of vibration. Don’t. It’s quality material and powerful motor are important.
Rave features ten modes, and they go a little something like this:
They’re cool to look at (especially cha-cha!) but modes don’t do much for me. You can cycle through them by pressing the center button, which also turns the toy on and off. Buttons above and below increase and decrease the power. Unfortunately, the Rave is guilty of one of my biggest pet peeves. If you turn the toy off on level five, it starts on level five when you turn it back on. This is ideal if you love level five, but if, say, you accidentally get lube on the button end of the toy and get lost in a slippery cycle of frustrating pulsation, returning to steady vibration isn’t as simple as turning the toy off and starting over.
If ten patterns of vibration aren’t enough, you can custom create your own inside the We-Connect app. That’s right–there’s an app for that. We-Connect is a free app that works with a variety of We-Vibe toys. It allows for a customizable experience, and, even better, your partner can control your toy from anywhere in the world.
Like most of my favorite toys, Rave is rechargeable. An hour and a half of charge yields two hours of pleasure. It features a low power alert and a one year warranty. Blah blah blah.
So, anyway, the shape. Rave is a G-spot stimulator, so I loved it before I touched it. What makes it different from my leading G-Spot ladies is its asymmetrical head. The left side is bulbous while the right is rather flat. We-Vibe invites you to give the toy a gentle twist to stimulate those hard to reach areas of your vagina.
Here’s what I did with mine:
Insertion (oooh!)
Twist to the left (OOOH!)
Twist to the right (wait, where’d you go?)
Back to center (oooh?)
Twist the the left (OOOH!)
Twist to the right and to the left and to the right (oh, oops, lost you again.)
To stimulate the G-spot, you kind of need to stay in the right place. For this reason, I would not recommend willy-nilly twisting. I can appreciate, however, Rave’s ability to come at that spot from a somewhat unique angle. Rave is sort of sneaky, and I like that in a toy. It would probably be especially cool in a toy that was being controlled by someone somewhere else in the world. (My people in Australia, install that app and hit me up.)
I like Rave a lot, and I look forward to experimenting with her more. Get yours here!
